Tyler fidgeted from his seat on the sofa. Cody knelt on the floor, Tyler’s laptop

balanced on his thighs as he fiddled with wires running from the computer to the

stereo receiver. The television screen was bright blue, but the sound was working

fine. Cody had muted the TV while he continued to check the settings on his system.

“We could watch it on the computer,” Tyler said. He stood and peeked around

Cody’s shoulder.

Cody shielded the laptop screen with his body. “I’ve done it before with Alan’s

computer. I know it works. Just sit down and be patient.”

Tyler sat as ordered. “I could set it up.”

Cody ignored the offer, and within thirty seconds, Tyler started pacing the

room, pretending not to be interested in catching a glimpse of whatever Web site

Cody had chosen.

“Finally!”

Tyler spun around. Cody’s wide-screen TV displayed a nearly life-size image of

two young men tangled together on a bed with a transparent white arrow in the

center of the screen. He barely registered the Play button hovering over the picture,

because one of the two bore a striking resemblance to a friend of his back at school.

He squinted at the screen and decided the man there didn’t quite look like Josh, but

close. Josh would’ve mocked the soul patch of scraggly brown hair on the boy’s chin,

which was too light to be his color anyway.
