I got in!!

The acceptance message popped in this morning! I’m officially starting the Academy of Science & Technology on September 1. Dad is so proud, his cheeks are flushed red and he’s wearing the goofiest grin. A grin I never want to forget. Mom’s really excited too, and she’s making us steak dinners tonight.

The only thing that sucks is the projects that are already due. I have to do one detailed cause-and-effect project, and one robotic design project. Both due my first week. Since my classes are all online, that means I have to package them early and have them air-delivered by September 1.

I admit I’m a little sketchy about it. Mom keeps saying I have plenty of time, and she’s right, but holy hell it’s an obligation I hadn’t planned on having all summer. Summers are for mountain hiking and snowboarding. And hours and hours of endless video games in the holo-booth.

But I’m an academy student now. Well, almost. Once this semester is over I can move on to official Academy curriculum, which Dad likes to say "will serve you best as a professinal time travel guide."

He's so funny. In a sorta-geeky, but still teddy-bear-cute way.

AST will be way different than regular school, though, and there's so many things I’m curious about! Like if any of my webbie friends will be in my classes, and if the grades will be based on exams alone. And what about prom? Will I even have one? AST conducts classes virtually around the nation—so do we have a prom in real time? Or is it some kinda come-when-you-can hologram?

I know I have to wait til orientation to get the full deets. I’m downloading the handbook now, so I can start reading up on everything tonight. Feels magic to be able to say I made it. Makes all the Cody rumors seem insignificant now, because I’m positive none of them got into AST. Or even had the nerve to try.

The only realy bummer, is that Kayla and I will be homeschooled from different providers. Split up for the first time, not that we sat next to each other in a real live classrooom or anything, but we still shared virtual classroom space where we could pass secret IMs and laugh about the same stuff. Now she won't understand what I mean when I make jokes about classwork or teachers.

We knew it would happen one day. Just can’t believe the time is already here.

Alright, I've gotta get off this device and get some reading done.

Signing off.
