Submodality Distinctions, Drivers And Calibration

The Six Modalities of Calibration are: Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic, Olfatory, Gustatory and Auditory Digital.

Just to clarify, ‘Modality’ refers to our Internal Representations; the Six Modalities of Calibration are the Five Senses or Modalities: Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic, Olfactory, and Gustatory PLUS our Internal Dialogue.

Submodalities are the qualities of our experiences.

In NLP, Calibration is known as the skill of learning to read unconscious, non-verbal responses and developing high-level NLP communication skills and techniques using the senses (seeing, hearing or feeling) to notice shifts in a person’s external state, voice, posture, gestures, that would indicate an internal shift or change.

Calibration, depends on refined Sensory Acuity; and it is the ability to notice and measure changes with respect to a standard, usually involving the comparison between two different sets of external, non-verbal cues and in this way, by comparing, we notice the difference between person’s, places, things, states and behaviours.
