CHAPTER
SEVEN
As the train rolled into the station, I looked down at my phone for the time. Two delays and a backlog of trains before us meant Iâd been sitting on this damn metal tube for over two hours, and I needed to pee. The doors opened and I sprung out of them so quick, I thought I may fly out of my shoes. I jogged to the stairs and ran up them, swiping my card to let me through the barriers only to find their bathrooms closed.
Fuck.
It was Thursday, which meant late night shopping. The shopping centre was only a few metres away. I could make it. At a near olympic rate of speed walking, I made it into the frosty air conditioning of the shopping centre and looked for the bathrooms. I rarely used them, I hated to pee or poop in public at all, but this was a damn emergency and although my apartment wasnât far, there was no way in hell I would make it up that damn hill with my dignity intact.
Finally, I found the hall with the lady figure signalling the womenâs bathroom. Running down the hallway, I pushed into the stalls and sat myself down before an accident occurred. I made it just in time and for what seemed an eternity, I peed into the porcelain bowl.
Just as I was about to finish, I heard the doors open and two women came in giggling. âThis is exactly why I come down here for the firefighter appeal, they always bring out the hottest guys from the station.â
âDid you see that blond one? Drool worthy!â
Did she just say firefighter appeal?
Fear shot through me as I realised, she was probably talking about Deac. Shit, shit, shit. Iâd successfully avoided him for weeks now. I could not run into him tonight, after such a shit day. I needed wine and I needed food before I passed out. I quickly wiped and pulled my pants back up before I flushed the toilet and moved out into the sink area. The two girls were in their own cubicles probably drooling over the firies. I knew what they were talking about, they used to do these appeals near where I used to live back when I was with Heath.
They did indeed pick their fittest and most gorgeous men, usually some of the ones who made it onto the calendar and had them shirtless in a shopping centre to promote their calendar or to donate.
Shit, fuck, shit.
Quickly, I dashed out of the bathroom and headed toward the exit, only to see the fire appeal set up right by the exit that would be closest to my apartment.
Great.
I didnât see Deac with them but that didnât mean he wasnât hiding or taking photos somewhere close by. I turned on my heel to go out the back entrance, through the car park or through the train station.
Only to collide with the brick wall of Deacâs chest. He grabbed me before I fell back, and I felt the warmth and closeness of his chiselled abs.
