Chapter Seventeen

Jade was three months pregnant when the war officially started - the day that Emmy began blowing up military bases. She had passed through the phase of morning sickness. She was now keenly aware of a new life growing inside her. She saw that her stomach was starting to grow ever so slightly. She was starting to urinate more frequently - so much so that Emmy gave her an extra bucket just in case.

Emmy also tripled her rations, which Jade didn't understand. Being pregnant wouldn't cause her to eat three times as much as normal - or so she thought. She would eat all of the food that Emmy brought - something that perplexed her because she honestly didn't know how she was able to eat so much.

That day that Emmy began his attack on military bases, there was a group of soldiers in the US Army who survived because they were in the middle of a training exercise far enough away from Fort Bragg that the blast didn't affect them. One such soldier was Adam Decker.

Adam Decker was a staff sergeant (also known in the army as E-6). He was a squad leader. One of his newest members to his squad was a soldier who had just finished basic training, Private First Class Henry Eckhart. PFC Eckhart was the first openly gay soldier that Sergeant Decker had ever had under his own command.

Sergeant Decker was about five feet and eight inches tall, black, muscular, and extremely handsome. PFC Eckhart was about six feet tall, muscular and almost equally attractive as Sergeant Decker, but he was white.

That day, they had to do a training jump. They were part of the 82nd Airborne Division. So, they regularly jumped out of airplanes. Usually, they did these jumps during the day, but this was supposed to be a night jump, and it was at night that Emmy initiated his attack.

When Sergeant Decker and his squad descended to the ground hanging from their parachutes, they saw Fort Bragg go up in flames as Emmy's spaceship flew by them. As soon as everyone had hit the ground, they gathered together watching the pillars of smoke come out of what used to be Fort Bragg. "What the fuck," Sergeant Decker whispered as a chill went down his spine.

The entire company had gone on this particular jump. So their numbers grew as they joined up with their platoon then the company. Then, their captain and first sergeant met with all the platoon leaders and sergeant first classes. They decided to walk back to Fort Bragg to see what might have survived the blast.

Meanwhile, Emmy was making modifications to his army that would do all of their ground fighting to finish off the job. He had created another batch of clones, but this time there were twenty-one million. However, they didn't come out with the bottom half of a creature that looked like a panther. Emmy had modified their DNA so that they had two legs. They
