SUMMAH WILLIAM

Ilaughed as I turned the page of the book that I was reading. I was sitting in the backyard by the pool. Rayna had gone to the store and purchased me a bunch of books that she thought I would like, and she did a damn good job. She had some of my favorite authors in the stash including Ta’tina, Syvonne, Lemonica, Dayonna, and Jazz E to name a few. I had already read two books in one day and I was on book number three. Reading was my escape from the real world, and it took my mind off the fact that I was living good while my brothers were probably somewhere out there stressed while looking for me. I’m ashamed to admit that last week at the fundraiser I actually felt good at the event. The way people swarmed to me and told me how beautiful I was, had me on cloud nine. They damn near forced me to walk the runway in the expensive gown that I was wearing, and I ended up winning a cash prize for a charity of Enferno’s choice. He had already pledged a hefty amount to St. Jude’s Hospital, and I donated my winnings to them as well. Everything seemed so perfect until he had to step out for a phone call and when he came back inside, he was a different person.

“We leaving.” He said as I snapped my head at him.

“Can we at least wait until they say who won? I mean what was the purpose of you bringing me here if all you were going to do was be mad and leave?”

“I don’t explain myself. What I say goes Summah.”, so that is the charity I donated my winnings to as well. I was impressed and the way he catered to me turned the small crush that I had on him into a bigger one that was until we made it back home that day and now, I couldn’t stand his tall, linky, fine ass.

“Mr. Sanchez, you have a date with you tonight? Is this your girlfriend?” a reporter asked as we made our way in front of the red carpet. He had his hand on the small of my back as he held my other hand. He made sure to walk slowly and that made me smile that he was still thinking of me. We stopped in front of the backdrop and posed for a few pictures.

“Don’t look at them. Just keep walking.” Enferno ordered as I did what I was told.

“No questions please.” One of the security guards that accompanied us said as he blocked them from prying further. They walked on the side of us like we were in a mob or something and that made me excited and nervous at the same time.

When we were done taking pictures, we made our way inside the venue, and it was something that I only saw in movies. The chandeliers that hung from the ceiling were everything. Women walked around holding drinks and hors d’oeuvres on a blinged-out tray.
