Once many of us were hell-raisers and troublemakers. Today things are different. What a change from our shameful past. Today we can lift our head high and be proud. God has restored us to a life of quiet dignity.

But we need to remember that we have done nothing to earn it. As children of God, dignity is our birthright, a quality we share with all of God’s creatures. Those who are down and out need a hand from those of us who used to be there. The love we can offer helps to heal their pain. If we accord all people their own measure of dignity, we can be sure of our own.
