Chapter 14: Surrender

Hyde advanced on me, grinning a horrible, psychotic smile that made him look unhinged and dangerous. I stumbled back, panicking, but at the same time, couldn’t help but notice the overwhelming pulse of arousal in my lower belly.

He promised domination, utter and destructive, and at that moment, I craved it with abandon. To forget, to not feel, to let go of my burden, and surrender.

To become a tool, just a body to use. To stop thinking, stop fearing, get lost in sensation, and receive without hope, without expectation, without disappointment.

“If you fuck with me again, I’ll wring your neck,” Hyde said, stepping so close, I smelled him, male arousal, a cool, spicy cologne, and the burnt aroma of powerful magic.

He snapped his fingers and my gag disappeared.

“I promise I won’t,” I said, meaning it fully.

I was tired of trying to do the impossible, tired of denying my attraction, tired of being alone and in charge of my family’s future. Whatever Hyde did would hurt, but it would wipe me clean for a few blessed hours.

Everything he said, all his threats and dirty words, aroused me as much as they terrified me. He knew what he was doing, telling how he would use me, degrade me, break me. And those words spoke to the deep, hidden parts of me.

To the place where I was still just a terrified girl, wishing and wanting for someone to take care of me and tell me what to do.

My secret weapon was gone, anyway. The fragile false tooth tip had cracked when I fell to the floor, and I swallowed the poison. It was harmless when swallowed, though, its magic only activating when it was directly injected into the victim’s bloodstream.

I had instinctively swallowed the broken pieces of the tooth, too, which I hastily explained to Hyde, opening my mouth wide to show him.

He took a long, penetrating look, pressed his thumb to my lower teeth to open my mouth further, and finally nodded. Then, he untied my wrists and looked at me, his eyes cold and merciless. I shivered, half from fear, half from excitement.

“Undress, Poppy. I will check all of you, just as you said. Such a resourceful little killer could have a weapon… anywhere.”

He sat down on the sofa, his knees spread wide, erection straining against his trousers. With his sleeves rolled up, he looked debonair and attractive, a man ready to fuck, and I swallowed hard, giving in almost completely.

Could I just fall and give over control? Yes, I could, even to Hyde. Especially to Hyde, who made my heart race erratically with arousal and fear. Hyde, whose control was like a powerful aphrodisiac, making my body lubricate and want.

He already thought the worst of me, which meant I didn’t have to try to be good.

I could just be.

For a few hours, I would be free of my mission. I would be just a body, feeling and not thinking, and it would start…

Now.

I stood straight and looked at him once more, allowing myself to feel everything I had worked so hard to repress before.
