Chapter 5

Fleur did something that most would argue was foolish the following day. She stayed behind.

Oh, her guards and her friend tried to convince her to come, to go to Jean-Louis with the deal she had arranged, but her words on a letter and her staying behind would be enough for her brother to understand, she was sure, and it would reassure the werewolves at the same time. She tried to tell herself that was all there was to it, but deep down, she knew the truth.

She couldn’t bear to part from Fiona, not just yet.

And so, she stayed behind and watched a pair of werewolves escort her party through the trees, then turned to look at the woman at her side. Fiona looked back at her, a large smile on her lips, a wanton need in her eyes, and this time Fleur didn’t color at it. She found she wanted the other woman just as much and wasn’t willing to hide it any longer.

Fiona extended her hand, and Fleur took hold of it, allowed the other woman to pull her away, felt her heart beating faster for it. It would be days, perhaps weeks, until a response would come from her brother, and she intended to enjoy them for as much as she could beside the other woman. There was always a chance not everything would go according to plan, and her future might not be what she desired for herself, and so she would spend as much time with Fiona as she could.

And she did. They barely spent a moment apart over the days that followed, only truly leaving one another at night, and even then, sometimes lingering in each other’s company for longer than they should.

They shared their meals; they explored the woods together; they met with the other werewolves and listened to their concerns, and it kind of surprised Fleur how easily some of them turned to her and asked for her opinion or her support. Those men and women were already treating her as if she was Fiona’s wife, as if she was in charge of them as well, and it pleased a part of Fleur. She would find it easy to be accepted by the werewolves, and though surprising, it felt good.

And at night…

Rare was the time that she didn’t find herself kissing Fiona, and sometimes more. Oh, they never dared to take that last step, despite everything they still held back, but their kisses became far more adventurous than before, and their hands roved over each other’s frames quite a bit, touching and caressing, and making both of them enjoy at the sensations.

That too surprised Fleur. She never thought she could find more pleasure than the one she did as Fiona kissed her, but when they started laying atop of a bed with their bodies pressed against one another’s, and their hands roamed while they kissed, she enjoyed like never before.

She didn’t want to lose this. She could only hope her brother accepted the match, or she feared she would do something foolish like disobey him and marry Fiona.
