Chapter 6

Kelly

Ihad never liked basketball, or really any sport, before I married Bryant. When he said he wanted to coach, I dreaded the obligation of sitting through hours of screaming and buzzers. Then he started to coach the Knights, and it was like he was a different man. He was confident, even when they lost, and the players loved him. I loved seeing him this way.

The buzzer went off, causing me to jump and pulling me out of my thoughts. I watched Dante, Jarred, Martin, and the rest of the guys jog onto the court while the crowd around me roared. I clapped along with them and when Bryant looked up at me, butterflies filled my stomach.

“Wish us luck,” he mouthed, winking.

I grinned, forming my hands in the shape of a heart and holding them up. “You’re going to win,” I mouthed back. I hoped he did.

As the game started, I thought about the night before and the way Dante’s cock felt in my mouth. My mouth watered remembering the way it glided along my tongue and between my lips, and a rush of arousal settled between my legs. If they won, I was going to get to do it again—and so much more.

Jarred looked up into the stands as he grabbed the ball, smirking at me when he dribbled. When I winked at him, the cool, composed look on his face slipped temporarily, just long enough for the player decked in blue behind him to steal the ball, drawing his attention back to the game. He gritted his teeth, clearly frustrated with himself, and ran after the player.

The score quickly built up in the opponent’s favor, putting the Hawks ahead on the board before the first few minutes had ticked away. They were one of the best teams in the nation. It wasn’t a surprise that they had the upper hand or that they’d taken the lead so quickly.

“Let’s go, guys!” I shouted when Finn had the ball and started to jog up the court with it. On the sideline, Bryant paced, roughly running his hands through his hair and yelling something I couldn’t make out but that made the vein in his forehead pop out. He was stressed.

Finn hurled the ball over his opponent to Sonny, who dribbled past a block to the top of the paint. When one of the Hawks started to hound him, Sonny turned, quickly passing the ball to Martin. He caught it, and a look of determination etched itself in his features.

Martin got to the other side, shot the ball, and missed. He looked angry, as angry as Bryant did, when the Hawks grabbed the rebound. I watched nervously while our guys tailed the opponents down the court. The Hawks shot, making the three-point basket and adding more distance between the scores.

My stomach sank when Dante got the ball but lacked his usual excitement. The team looked defeated, and it showed in the lack of drive in their steps. Bryant threw his hands up.
