Faux Wallet Chain

Tough and Modern

Materials

• One 8’ (2.5m) length of 550 parachute cord

• 1 large-hole bead

• 1 swivel spring hook or carabiner

Step 1: Fold the length of cord in half to find the center point. Creating about a 4” (10cm) loop, cross the right strand over the left (figure 1).

Step 2: Follow figures 2–5 to form a simple crown knot.

Step 3: Repeat figures 1–5 to form a line of simple crown knots. Leave a 1”–2” (2.5–5cm) gap between each knot to create the faux chain effect. Make 16”–18” (41–45cm) of faux chain.

Step 4: When you have completed the faux chain, loop both the ends of the cord through the end of the hook closure or carabiner (figure 6).

Step 5: Form a series of square knots by following figures 7–10. When very little cord remains, trim and melt the ends to secure it in place (figure 11).

Step 6: Slide a bead onto the loop at the opposite end of the chain (figure 12). Slide a wallet through the loop, positioning the loop at the fold of the wallet. Slide the bead tightly against the end of the wallet to secure it in place (figure 13). Clip the hook end of the chain to a belt loop on your pants and slip the wallet into your pocket.
