My heart nearly leapt out of my chest when I saw Gunner walk into the lunch room. I ran up to him, pulling him into a tight hug. He winced from my touch, but I refused to let go. Not after him being gone yesterday and worrying if he was dead, paralyzed, or beaten.

"Gabby, I'm fine," he said with a laugh, patting my back.

I mumbled into his chest, my voice muffled, "I was so worried." His arms wrapped around me, holding me against him. I didn't care who saw. I didn't care if Kimi would ask me about it later. He was alive and in my arms. That was all that mattered to me.

When I finally pulled away, I said, "We need to sit down. I think I have a plan to get us out of here."

Ollie led us to a table at the corner of the room, by the window wall. He said there were no cameras and as long as no one else was around, we were good to talk freely. Once we all got settled into place with our lunch, if you could call it that, I dove in.

"I have a plan to escape, but it requires using the artifact."

Sydney let out a sharp laugh, an eyebrow cocked. "And you expect to get that how?"

"Well, that's where you guys come in. We need to figure out that part of the plan, but once we do, I know how to get us out. The problem is, Luke is wearing the necklace."

"No, he isn't," Gunner said. My head shot over to him.

"What? But he was wearing it when..." I trailed off, not ready to go down that road yet. We had other things to focus on.

"When what?" Gunner asked curiously.

My eyes glanced around the table, the others turning away or closing their mouths, not saying anything. I was grateful they didn't. That was a discussion to have with Gunner when we were alone. "Never mind. So, he isn't wearing it anymore? Then we need to find out where it is."

Darrell chimed in. "I'll bet you they keep it in the library." Seeing our confused faces, he explained, "The LSS has a library for the elite. I saw it once when a white-coat brought me in. They needed to grab some notes from the library but our session was almost up, so they told me to come in but tell no one. There was a bunch of priceless art and artifacts on display. My guess is the artifact would be in there."

"Do you remember where it is?" Kimi asked.

Darrell's eyes looked up and his mouth parted slightly as he thought about it for a moment. "Not exactly. It happened when I was still new, so I had no idea where we were. But I do know it was on the bottom floor. In the room, there was a window. I remember watching the sun set—"

"Which means it's on the west side," Ollie said, completing the sentence. "I'm taken to the bottom floor for my sessions with the scientists.
