Layer opacity

Through the Opacity tool, you can change the level of transparency, or opacity, of a certain layer. By making the top layer less opaque, you can mix one layer into the next. A lower visibility number also lets you see what's under that layer, which could come in handy if you need to move the top layer exactly on top of an object in the layer below it. Once the layer is in the right place, you can set its transparency back to 100% and continue with the edit. In this case, I've cut the MAGAZINE text layer down to 50%. If you want to make this kind of special effect, it's best to keep the different parts on separate layers. If you don't, Classic Car would fade too, which would defeat the purpose.
